Kent

A characterful barn annex sleeping four near the historic village of Charing, with footpaths from the door and a welcome for dogs.

Charing

A barn in the Kent countryside

Charing is a historic village on the edge of the Kent Downs, between Ashford and Maidstone, with its own railway station and a couple of village pubs. The Hayloft sits just outside it, a barn-style annex with woods and rolling fields around it and public footpaths and quiet lanes straight from the door.

It makes a good base for this corner of Kent. Ashford is about six miles away, Canterbury, Leeds Castle and the oysters of Whitstable are all within reach, and some of the best-known English vineyards, including Chapel Down, Gusbourne and Biddenden, are within half an hour. We write the local guides ourselves, so you arrive knowing where to walk, where to eat and what to do when it rains. Read the Kent guides.
